Design Story

The design is built like a patchwork quilt read from above. A ring of pieced blocks \Uffffffff checkerboards, diamonds, burgundy and burnt-orange stripes \Uffffffff frames a set of illustrated panels: two carved pumpkins, a gold crescent moon, an eight-point star, a perched raven, a striped circus tent and a gilded carnival mask. At the core, the jester's belled cap and pleated ruff sit in warm amber light, his eyes glowing against a black stitched grin. The trompe-l'oeil opening gives the flat circle unexpected depth, while the border keeps it contained.

As a floor piece, the round silhouette works in its favour.
